journaling classes

You can learn to sketch!

Prepare for your next vacation, or stay-cation, by learning the best techniques to quickly capture images and memories in a travel journal. Learn basic ‘quick sketch’ drawing and writing techniques to create a unique, personal journal that is truly a work of art and pleasing to the eye.

No drawing/sketching/painting skills are needed to succeed.  We'll discuss the best supplies to travel with, as well as the ins and outs of buying a journal or designing your  own.

I use this unique style of teaching to provide not only encouragement and techniques, but a safe environment for others to play and sketch. I hope to foster creativity in people of all drawing abilities.

I have taught through the Arts Center in Corvallis, Philomath public schools, and incarcerated young adults as well as the after school program for elementary students. I teach private groups and individuals as well. My classes are currently offered locally through our community college, LBCC.

A group of women prepared for a rafting trip by taking the journaling class prior to going. Temperature on the river was 104 degrees, so they sketched while sitting in the water.

A beautiful day in Seattle, this one day workshop ended with a potluck, wine, and great conversation.

Journaling through the summer is an 8 week course. Class is often held in the gardens of fellow classmates.
